Greeting of the Lynx
On San Francisco Bay 9-19-03

It was National Talk Like a Pirate Day on the day that the tall ship "The Lynx" was greeted by "The Royaliste", "The Hawaiian Chieftain", a fire boat and more distantly by the La'uilani. We greeted the Lynx pirate style with a blast from the Royaliste's guns across her stern! The Hawaiian Chieftain escourted the Lynx under the Golden Gate Bridge where she was saluted by the Hawaiian Chieftain and the fire boat. We followed them in and quickly realized why they seemed in such a hurry to get in... we ended up sailing the wrong direction through the middle of the Americas Cup race, right in front of the crowds and the ESPN camera crew in the hellicopters!
