Ahoy mates - some of you know I'm in an opera this summer! I was accepted into the Walnut Creek Festival Opera chorus and will be singing in Puccini's "Turandot" in July - no pirates but lots of singing about blood and gore and sharpening weapons to behead folks, so I feel quite at home! (in Italian, of course!). i'm enjoying myself immensely and the music is glorious. unfortunately, we don't get any comp tickets. But we are doing a free public concert with pieces from this season, as well as songs from Madame Butterfly and Les Miz, and the children's opera chorus will perform. It's outdoors and you can bring a picnic supper or a bottle of wine and just hang out and enjoy the music.
Concert info: Sunday June 28 6:00 p.m., Civc Park in Downtown Walnut Creek.

I just emailed this info out to my mom. She and I usually try to attend an opera during the summer and have enjoyed the Merola opera performances especially when they used to be out at Villa Montalvo. I suggested that this year we should come see you in Turandot, so I will keep my fingers crossed that it works with her schedule. I'll let you know asap! _________________

Claire that would be so cool! I think I copied you on an email with more info. In case I did not, the performances are: Sat. Jul 11 (opening), Tuesday Jul 14, Fri 7/17 at 8 p.m, and Sunday July 19 at 2:00. I think there is a reception shindig opening night which is open to the audience. Rob is coming that night, and so are some friends from Mendocino.
Let me know if you need more info. _________________ Tortuga Kate

Is there a way we could meet you for a couple of minutes afterward to give you a congratulatory hug? _________________

of course! I haven't performed at that theatre before, but by that show I'll know what' up and can tell you where to meet me. I think the box office staff will also be able to tell you, but I'll double check. Great that you can come! _________________ Tortuga Kate
